What's Happening Now
In February 2026, the City of Delta sought feedback on the new Ladner Village brand concepts and preliminary design for Chisholm Street Upgrades. These initiatives are part of the broader Ladner Village Revitalization efforts, which support the ongoing work to activate the Village and improve connections to the waterfront.
An online information session and an open house were available for residents to participate in to speak with staff and ask questions. The online feedback form for this project was available from February 25 - March 22, 2026. Staff are currently reviewing the feedback received and will provide an engagement report for residents and Council.

Updates for All Projects in Ladner Village!
A lot of progress has been made on the key initiatives planned for the Village. See each project below to read about the latest news.
Ladner Village Brand - Summarizing Feedback
February 2026
The City is developing a Ladner Village brand to express the area’s identity, character, and sense of place. The work builds on earlier community engagement, where residents and businesses shared the importance of protecting the Village’s character while allowing it to evolve. Drawing from that input, along with local history and conversations with community members, the City developed a unifying brand idea, Shaped by the River, and two preliminary brand concepts to support further community feedback before a preferred direction is brought forward to Council.
Chisholm Street Roadway Upgrades - Summarizing Feedback
February 2026
The City sought feedback on a preliminary design concept for Chisholm Street that builds on recent improvements at the Chisholm Street Wharf. The concept explores a more people-focused street that strengthens connections between Ladner Village and the waterfront, and includes a potential one-way, westbound traffic configuration, angled parking, and a multi-use pathway connecting to nearby amenities. Parking considerations, informed by a recent parking study, will continue to be part of the discussion as community feedback is gathered.
Chisholm Street Wharf - In Progress
May 2026
Based on the feedback received from the community, staff have refined the plan for Chisholm Street Wharf. Residents were invited to share their feedback on the detailed design. The City hosted a pop-up event as an opportunity for residents to speak with staff and learn about the project in-person, over 80 residents were in attendance. At the July 28, 2025 Regular Meeting, Delta Council approved the updated design. A Request for Proposals (RFP) for construction will be issued in August, with work expected to begin this fall and completed by spring 2026. The results of the engagement program is available here.
Construction is currently taking place following two phases of public consultation. Feedback shared by residents helped shape the final design, with a focus on accessibility, gathering space, and stronger connections to the Fraser River. The Wharf will include stepped and shaded seating, flexible gathering spaces, improved lighting, natural landscaping along the dike pathway, and space for a future concession.
During this work, the Wharf will not be available for public use. The construction is anticipated to be completed by summer 2026.
Mixed-Use Tourism Accommodation - In Progress
February 2026
A possible tourist accommodation is one of the first revitalization projects to advance. This exciting project is intended to inject vibrancy into the village and support local businesses. In the summer of 2024, the City invited residents to provide their ideas for how the proposed development can fit with the community and complement Ladner Village. The feedback gathered was used to set the criteria in the Expression of Interest. In July 2025, the City began the bylaw amendment process to consolidate and rezone the property to a new Mixed-Use Ladner (MUL) Zone. The results of the engagement and the EOI was reviewed with Council at their meeting on September 23, 2025 and can be read here.
In 2025, the City issued a Request for Proposals for a mixed-use tourism accommodation development on a consolidated 1.2-acre City-owned site in Ladner Village, assembled through property acquisitions to support waterfront revitalization. This process did not result in any viable proposals from the five proponents that previously submitted Expression of Interests, however the City continues to advance key steps to ensure the site is positioned for future redevelopment. In the interim, the City is looking to activate the site through a pop-up park and programming.
Ladner Village Market - Complete
May 2026
Activities and celebrations in Ladner Village continue to grow, including the popular Ladner Village Market, which will operate under For the Love of Local Foundation, in partnership with The Collective Markets, for the next three years. The Bridge Street Pop-Up Park will also relocate to the City-owned site at Delta Street and Chisholm Street.
Daily programming will also be delivered through the Soccer
Fan Zone during the FIFA World Cup 2026™ to animate the waterfront throughout the
tournament. In addition, the Elliott Street Wharf will continue to host pop-up events,
such as Friday Night Lights (sunset concerts).
Elliott Street Wharf - Complete
July 2025
The third project to advance is a plan to upgrade the Elliott Street Wharf. Residents were invited to comment on proposed plans in the spring of 2025 and the results were presented to Council at their meeting on April 14. Delta Council approved moving forward with the installation of a floating kayak docking system, dock ramp upgrades, and Wharfhead reconfiguration to improve parking and support for commercial uses. To balance strong community support for commercial uses at Elliott Street Wharf with concerns about over-commercialization, the Wharf will support kayak rentals, boat tours, food trucks, and commercial fish sales from a vessel. You can read the engagement results here.
