Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan
WHAT MOVES YOU?
Delta is developing a new Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan (the Plan) to ensure that our parks, facilities, programs, and services continue to meet the needs of the community—now and for the next 25 years. Residents are invited to help shape the plan. We want to know what moves YOU—what inspires you to play, create, and connect in Delta. Read on to learn more about this work and how to get involved.
Phase One Engagement
There will be two phases of engagement on this project. The first phase will take place between September 10 and October 31. We will be seeking input by:
- Holding pop-ups at major community events (see Key Dates)
- Having meetings with community partners and interested groups
- Facilitating focus groups related to accessibility and inclusivity
- Offering an online survey for residents
- Forming a team of volunteers to connect with residents

Residents are invited to tell the City ”What Moves You?" and share ideas for the future of Delta’s Parks, Recreation & Culture services. This is the first step in the work to create a master plan that will guide decisions and investments in the City’s Parks, Recreation & Culture services and amenities for the next 25 years.“We’re taking a thoughtful and forward-looking approach to plan the future of our recreation services and amenities,” said Mayor George V. Harvie. “This is work that matters to everyone, and your voice is essential. By sharing your ideas, you can help shape spaces and programs that truly reflect our community’s priorities, serving people of all ages and backgrounds now and into the future.”
This week, residents should watch for a flyer in the mail with a unique code to complete a survey. The City is also planning several pop-ups at major community events to hear residents’ ideas in person. Community partners and interest groups can also anticipate invitations to meet with staff through the engagement process. Input will be collected through to October 31, 2025. Below are dates for in-person pop-up events:

- October 9: Winskill Aquatic and Fitness Centre (3:30 pm – 7:00 pm)

- October 29: CityOpen House at North Delta Recreation Centre, Gymnasium (4:30 pm – 6:00 pm)
- October 30: City Open House at City Hall, Foyer (4:30 pm – 6:00 pm)
The City will also take advantage of this engagement program to gather feedback on two other major Parks, Recreation & Culture plans: the John Oliver Master Plan and the City Events Strategy. Residents are invited to provide feedback on the three example layouts for John Oliver Park to help inform a final design, which will be submitted to the Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) for consideration as well as share ideas to guide future City events.
