City of Delta is Staying Home for the Holidays

Home for the Holidays is about supporting local businesses and bringing our community together as the second wave of COVID-19 hits British Columbia. It is about celebrating Delta’s diverse holiday traditions closer to home this year. It’s about shopping for holiday gifts in Delta to support economic recovery. It’s about connecting our community and keeping Delta safe during these challenging times.

Here are just some of the ways you can participate:

* Light Up Delta – turn on your Christmas lights at 7:00 pm on December 1 to help collectively "Light Up Delta" this holiday season! Once your lights are on, bundle up and get outside to enjoy the colours and connect with your neighbours from a safe physical distance. Planning to light up your house or storefront in November? Great! We could all use some early holiday cheer in Delta this year.

* #GiftLocalinDelta – support Delta's small businesses by consciously shopping for your holiday gifts in Ladner, Tsawwassen, and North Delta this holiday season. If you are unable to shop in person, you can also purchase e-gift cards for your favourite small businesses at supportlocalbc.com/collections/delta. For every $100 you spend at a small business in Delta, $63 flows back into our local economy!

* #SearchLocalinDelta – use Delta's searchable business directory to find shops and services in Delta. It’s more important than ever to support Delta's small businesses and we’re making it even easier for residents to find what they need closer to home this holiday season. Visit: delta.ca/services/doing-business/delta-business-directory.

* Celebrating the Holidays in Delta – watch Delta's video series (under the Video Series tab on this page) to learn more about how Delta residents celebrate the holidays across different cultures. This holiday season, Delta will feature videos for Diwali, Hanukkah, Christmas, and Lunar New Year!

* Virtual Holiday Programs - Enjoy virtual holiday themed activities from the comfort and safety of your own home! Take a cooking class in your kitchen, make arts and crafts at your dining room table, compete at holiday trivia from your comfy couch, or enjoy a Holiday Open Stage or Christmas Concert without the crowds. It's fun for all ages. To learn more, visit: www.delta.ca/virtualrecreation.
