In the Summer of 2024, the City of Delta launched a new traffic calming study in the Royal York neighborhood based on feedback from residents about traffic safety. We invited you to participate in our first round of neighbourhood engagement to help us understand your traffic safety and operation concerns and suggestions for improvements.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Round 1 Engagement! We received valuable input for our project team to consider when making traffic calming recommendations.

What's happening now?

We are now in the second round of engagement. We invite you to attend our upcoming drop-in open house to share your feedback on the project team’s draft traffic calming recommendations based on their technical analysis and round one engagement. They have drafted recommendations aimed at enhancing safety for everyone, including people who drive, walk, bike, and roll.

Join us at our open house and provide feedback to staff by Friday, November 29, 2024:

  • Thursday, November 14, 2024
  • Drop-In Open House: 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
  • Location: Sungod Recreation Centre (in the Arena Foyer)
  • Address: 7815 112 Street

Study Background

The Royal York Traffic Calming Study is to address concerns raised by residents regarding traffic safety, speeding, and pedestrian accessibility in the area. The project is currently in its initial stage, where the team is actively seeking input from the community to understand their concerns and suggestions better. The primary goals of the Study are:

  • Enhancing road safety for all users, including drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and those using mobility aids.
  • Improving overall mobility and accessibility within the neighborhood.
  • Ensuring the neighborhood remains a safe, accessible, and livable environment for all.

The project team will use engineering solutions informed by technical analysis and community feedback to achieve these goals. This approach will involve using data to identify the most effective traffic calming measures and incorporating the community's needs and desires into the planning process.
