About Project:

The City of Delta is installing a new synthetic turf field at Mackie Park. The new field will be large enough to accommodate a full-size soccer pitch and high school-rules football field.

The project scope will include:

  • Synthetic turf surface
  • LED field lighting
  • Perimeter fencing and walkway
  • Below grade drainage system
  • Goals and field equipment

Tree Removals:

Part of the project includes the removal of trees currently situated within the location of the new synthetic turf field. Of the 28 existing trees, 3 will be retained and 25 trees will be removed to create space for the new field.

A total of 59 replacement trees are required for the removal of the 25 existing trees. The replacement trees will be implemented as part of the 2024-2025 Urban Reforestation Program, final locations are to be confirmed.

Our plan is to remove the trees in advance of the bird nesting period starting in late March 2024.

This project is funded by the BC Growing Communities Fund.
