Project Update: Community Consultation Results and Next Steps

The City of Delta is relocating the Ladner Bike Park to Kensington Park North. The new bike park will offer improved opportunities for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced riders, and will add vibrancy to a well-loved community park.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the community consultation for the Kensington Park North Bike Park. The consultation ran from late June to early August 2025 and included two proposed bike park designs for the community to review. Staff connected with over 64 park users on-site and received feedback forms from 46 participants both in person and online.

Key Themes from Your Feedback:

  • Support for the inclusion of both an asphalt pump track and a dirt jump area.
  • A desire for bike-park features that support beginners through to advance riders.
  • A need for amenities like seating and access to water to improve the bike park experience.
  • General improvements to Kensington Park North’s existing amenities such as the tennis courts and community garden

Bike Park Design Concept and Next Steps:

The design features an exciting bike park with an asphalt pump track and dirt jump trails that promotes safety and a positive user experience.

The design-build process is underway. The bike park is located within a BC Hydro right-of-way and we have submitted an application for final approval in accordance with right-of way requirements.

Construction will proceed once final approval is granted from BC Hydro. We will provide the community with an update when information is available.

Overall Bike Park Design:

The design features:

  • An asphalt pump track for beginners to intermediate riders
  • A separate dirt jump area with four levels of difficulty for beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert riders

Project Background

In May 2025, the City of Delta retained Velosolutions, a qualified bike park design consultant, to prepare preliminary design concepts and a community engagement plan. Two initial design options were developed for a pump track and dirt jump/skills area at Kensington, intended to replace the existing facility at Holly. The goal of the new bike park is to serve riders of all ages and skill levels, provide a higher-quality experience than Holly Park, address site-specific technical considerations, and expand the range of recreation opportunities at Kensington Park North.

The existing track at Holly Park will remain in place until construction of the new bike park at Kensington Park North begins, and materials from the existing track will be reused in the new dirt track. Potential future uses for the existing track’s location at Holly will be considered as part of a broader Master Plan process for the park.
