Ladner Village
Imagine what you can do in Ladner Village
The City of Delta is moving forward on plans to revitalize Ladner Village based on the findings of the 2021 Ladner Village Renewal Advisory Committee. Open the Imagine What You Can Do Here Map to see the seven projects that have been identified for advancement over the next few years. The City is currently engaging with the community about the projects, providing residents with an opportunity to learn more and share their feedback as the City prepares to move them forward.
SOCIALIZE HERE - PHASE 2 (Current - Summer 2025)
The City of Delta heard from over 150 residents who shared their ideas and feedback on the early concepts and features of a plan for the Chisholm Street Wharf. Based on that input, the design has been refined to create a welcoming, year-round destination that reflects our community’s vision. We are now inviting you to confirm the direction of the plan.

- Chisholm Street Wharf (4857 Chisholm Street)
- Saturday, July 5, 2025 | 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Updated Design Features:
Creation of vibrant and flexible gathering spaces with a variety of seating options, including movable and feature furnishings, designed to support community use and year-round special events such as movie nights/viewing parties, concerts, and craft/farmers markets.
Stepped seating at the base of the Wharf creates a welcoming social space and an easy transition from Chisholm Street up onto the dike, strengthening the connection between the road and the waterfront.
An improved dike pathway/promenade with natural features such as raised planters, shrubs, and street trees, to preserve residents’ connection to the Fraser River and environment.
Relief from the summer heat is provided through a playful misting zone that gently sprays upward from the wharf deck, vibrant 4-metre-wide umbrellas that add colour and shade, comfortable shaded seating with tables, and strategically placed street trees for additional cooling for stepped seating.
The lighting plan is designed to accommodate projection lighting creating an engaging and distinctive feature at the Wharf, enhancing safety and ambiance while minimizing light pollution.
Pop-up container concession zone will support food and beverage service in a relaxed, inviting setting.
Fully accessible Wharf with durable concrete paving around the perimeter, ensuring safe and easy access for everyone.
RECHARGE HERE (Completed - Spring 2025)
The third project to advance is a plan to upgrade the Elliott Street Wharf. Residents were invited to comment on proposed plans in the spring of 2025 and the results were presented to Council at their meeting on April 14. Delta Council approved moving forward with the installation of a floating kayak docking system, dock ramp upgrades, and Wharfhead reconfiguration to improve parking and support for commercial uses. To balance strong community support for commercial uses at Elliott Street Wharf with concerns about over-commercialization, the Wharf will support kayak rentals, boat tours, food trucks, and commercial fish sales from a vessel. You can read the engagement results here.
SOCIALIZE HERE - PHASE 1 (Completed - Fall 2024)
The second project to advance is a plan to upgrade Chisholm Street Wharf. The City initiated a new round of public engagement to bring forward the concept plan to residents to hear what they have to say. Over 75 residents attended our pop-up event to learn and discuss the concepts proposed for the Chisholm Street Wharf. The engagement report is available here. Staff are working on a revised plan based on feedback received from the community.
GETAWAY HERE (Completed - Summer 2024)
A possible tourist accommodation is one of the first revitalization projects to advance. This exciting project is intended to inject vibrancy into the village and support local businesses. In the summer of 2024, the City invited residents to provide their ideas for how the proposed development can fit with the community and complement Ladner Village. The feedback gathered was used to set the criteria in the Expression of Interest. The results of the engagement and the EOI was reviewed with Council at their meeting on Sept. 23 and can be read here.
PROJECTS TO REVITALIZE LADNER VILLAGE (Completed - October 2024)
Over several months beginning in the spring of 2024, Delta reintroduced plans to revitalize Ladner Village and held discussions with the community, inviting their feedback on seven key projects. The feedback gathered is informing plans for each of the seven projects and the community is invited to get involved in this work as each project progresses.
