The City of Delta, in partnership with the Delta School District is working to replace the existing running track and grass infield at Delta Secondary School.
Funding in the amount of $5 million has been provided through the Province of BC’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs - BC Growing Communities Fund.
Removal and construction of the new track facility started in early June 2024, with completion set for spring 2025.
The project was scheduled for completion in November 2024, but due to heavy rainfall over the month of October, the installation of the synthetic running surface has been delayed until the spring. Postponing the installation will ensure that air and surface temperatures are within ideal ranges to create a quality running surface, and in the interim, the asphalt surface of the track will be open for public use.
The newly placed sod grass on the infield area needs time to establish and will remain closed until May 2025 to ensure the grass is able withstand repeated use year-round.
In light of these changes, please view the amenity access timelines for the Delta Secondary School Track and Field
Grass Infield
The grass infield is currently closed to all users until the end of May 2025
Running Track Area
The running track area will be open to all users from late-November 2024 to mid-April 2025
Once the surface installation begins in mid-April 2025, the track will close until the end of May 2025.
