Draft Delta Cycling Master Plan

The City of Delta is committed to improving walking, cycling, and other active mobility options. We have created a Cycling Master Plan to develop a well-connected and complete cycling network that is safe, convenient, and comfortable for people of all ages and abilities.

Promoting and providing more opportunities for active transportation can play an important role in enhancing our community’s health, environment, and economy, and ensures community members can safely move in and around Delta. The Cycling Master Plan provides a course of action that reflects the community’s priorities and available resources. It outlines strategies and recommends infrastructure, policies, and education to help enable and encourage cycling as a practical and convenient form of transportation.

Development of this Plan was based on public and stakeholder feedback as well as a technical assessment of the cycling network. Public feedback was received through four rounds of public consultations held online and in person. Staff conducted consultations with key stakeholders throughout the development of this Plan, such as:

  • Delta HUB Cycling (community volunteer organization that encourages cycling for all ages and abilities in municipalities)
  • Delta Committees (Climate Action & Community Livability, Community Resilience and Economic Recovery, Ladner Village Renewal)
  • City of Surrey
  • Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure
  • Metro Vancouver
  • Tsawwassen First Nation
  • Delta Police

The Final Cycling Master Plan has been endorsed by Council and is located under the documents tab on the right side of this page.
