Background
Designated as a Neighbourhood Roads Improvement Project, the goals of the proposed improvements are to enhance accessibility and safety for all modes of transportation. Delta’s Neighbourhood Road Improvement Plan addresses aging infrastructure and provides missing sidewalks in a number of neighbourhoods in the community.
About the Project
The proposed improvements include:
Roadway widening
New sidewalks with new rollover curb and gutter
New watermain along Monroe Drive
LED street lighting improvements
New boulevard trees
Traffic calming measures
Drainage improvements including ditch infill as necessary
Roadway re-paving within the project limits
Impact to Residents
Access to driveways may be limited when work is taking place adjacent to a driveway. With work of this nature, some inconvenience will be unavoidable. We ask for your patience and cooperation during construction.
Some trees will need to be removed for this project. While we've made every effort to preserve trees, a thorough review by professional engineers and arborists have determined that some removals are unavoidable to support these vital pedestrian and street safety improvements in the neighbourhood. Once the roadworks are completed, trees will be re-planted wherever possible
Traffic
Single lane alternating traffic shall be maintained between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. during construction hours. Two-way traffic will be maintained outside the regular construction hours. Street parking will be restricted within the work zone.
Public Information Meeting
City staff held a public information meeting at the Sungod Recreation Centre on November 15, 2023, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Residents unable to addend the Public Information Meeting were able to submit their feedback below until Friday, November 24, 2023.
