The City of Delta has awarded a contract to Industra Construction Corp. to build a new Drainage Pump Station between 80 Street and 88 Street, on the north side of the watercourse known as Centre Ditch.

This project aims to improve control of water levels in a section of Delta’s ditch system, allowing efficient retention or drainage of excess water to the ocean and supporting farmers with both flooding prevention and irrigation. For more details, please check the attached Site Plan.

The work will include:

  • Widening of the existing ditch
  • Construction of an access road adjacent to the widened ditch
  • Construction of a new drainage pump station
  • Installation of drainage force main
  • Construction of a storm discharge structure
  • Dyke raising

Work started the week of November 10, 2025. If weather permits, the project is expected to be completed in spring 2027.

Impacts to residents will be limited and the contractor will remain in contact with local farmers, providing updates as work continues.

Please note: the Boundary Bay Dyke Trail will be closed to cyclists and pedestrians between 72 St and 88 St from mid-November until December 4, 2025, as a result of construction. Any additional impacts to the public will be updated on this page as work progresses.

The City of Delta would like to thank the Government of Canada for providing funding through the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund to help complete this project.
