About the Project
The existing cast iron watermain along 57 Street from Ladner Trunk Road to Crescent Drive was installed in 1969 and is at the end of its service life. A new 300mm diameter PVCO watermain will be installed to replace the aging cast iron watermain and increase capacity for future growth.
City of Delta construction crews will be installing the new watermain and have started construction. They will begin with pre-locating and marking out existing utilities along 57 Street. Crews will then start installing the watermain, starting from Crescent Drive and moving towards Ladner Trunk Road.
Residents should be aware that the existing watermain and the water service to each property are nearing the end of their service life. It is recommended that residents have their private water service inspected by a qualified professional once the municipal system is replaced.
Residents interested in having a meter installed under Delta's Voluntary Water Meter Program can click here to learn more.
Traffic Impacts
In general, 57 Street will be a single-lane-alternating traffic pattern during construction. However, there will be road closures along 57 Street at specific points during construction. There will be detour signage leading to alternate routes during road closures. Note, this will be a moving job site and parking will be suspended along portions of 57 Street near the active construction zone.
Efforts will be made to minimize the inconvenience to residents during construction; however, with works of this nature, some impacts will be unavoidable. Please expect some traffic delays in the area and consider taking alternate routes.
Updates regarding traffic impacts will be provided on this page as construction progresses.
