Consultation has concluded
On June 9, 2022, the City of Delta held a public information meeting for the 44 Avenue Cycling Improvements Project (Arthur Drive to 57 Street).
The proposed cycling improvements along 44 Avenue between Arthur Drive and 57 Street include:
Marked buffered on-street cycle lanes (1.5m wide cycle lane with 0.3m wide buffer);
Defined parking lane along the north side of 44 Avenue;
Green conflict zone paint as needed;
Removal of the on-street parking along the south side of 44 Avenue to accommodate the new cycle lanes.
These cycling improvements will tie into the existing cycle lanes along Arthur Drive (south of 44 Avenue) and would result in a continuous cycling facility on 44 Avenue from Ladner Elementary to the Dugald Morrison Park. Providing marked buffered cycle lanes will provide cyclists with a more comfortable riding experience and may encourage more residents to cycle rather than drive to their destination.
Construction of these cycling improvements is tentatively scheduled for summer/fall of 2022, subject to the satisfactory conclusion of the public consultation. Residents and businesses will receive another letter to notify them of the construction start date.
Plans showing the proposed cycling improvements and poster boards from the public information meeting on June 9, 2022 are attached for review.
We welcome and encourage your input to this project. Please submit your comments by Friday, June 24, 2022 by email to engineering@delta.ca
